Afgudhiuye means “nothing to put in your mouth”. The pastoral communities in the Doolo zone of the Somali region use this word to refer to the 2015–2017 drought, which was the worst in living memory.
This video report outlines the main findings of in-depth research carried out in November 2019 by the Internal Displacement Monitoring Centre (IDMC) into drought-related displacement in the Somali region of Ethiopia. It explains who is affected, where they are, what situation they are currently in, and what perspectives for the future exist.
