(MALAYSIA, December 2019) Thousands evacuate as floods worsen in Kelantan, Terengganu
Worsening floods in north-east Malaysia have killed at least two people, including a seven-year-old boy. Parts of Kelantan and Terengganu are on red alert, prompting the evacuation of thousands. More than 7,000 people have sought refuge at evacuation centres in seven districts. The water level in Kelantan rose to above 10 metres, exceeding the danger level of 9 metres. Major rivers are at the risk of overflowing
and several roads have been closed because of increasing floodwaters.
